Do not underestimate the power of being a mother

It can, at times, seem like a mundane and thankless task
Society doesn’t acknowledge anywhere near it’s true value
Mothers aren’t supported or paid anywhere near in exchange
for the vast and world changing contribution they bring to humanity each day

Yet the power of your role as a mother never ceases
And it is a far greater power than you realise

All those seemingly tiny daily actions-

The love you give your children
The lessons you share with them
The mistakes you own and the apologies you make
The responsibilities you bestow them with
The safe space you provide for them
The warm embrace they know you have for them

They all compound exponentially over time and space,
As your children grow and interact with others around them
Literally creating a new world
Creating a new humanity
Evolving us as a species.

Mothers are some of the greatest changemakers in the world
And for that we honour you

We can already hear you say something along the lines of
‘maybe other mothers are, but I screw up too much to be a positive change making mother’

We know you’re thinking that because us, and pretty much every other mother we’ve spoken with has thought the same

You are not perfect and perfection is not a requirement to being a changemaker

All that’s required is a desire and commitment to love, provide for and relate with your children
in ways that truly benefit them and the greater good of all

And we know you have that, however many ‘mistakes’ you make along the way
And for that we honour you

So now, beautiful, powerful, world changing mother...
