When you're focused on how you are seen and how you compare to other mothers then you won’t feel safe to share the half of what is going on for you. You’ll be putting up a mask of what you want others to see of you.
When you do that, only showing parts of yourself then you won’t feel connected, seen, understood and accepted by your community and that creates even more isolation and less support.
On another level, you will only be pushing down those parts of you that you don’t feel safe to show. They don’t go away, they are only hidden in the shadows...
~What you Resist Persists~
If (for example) you hate that you are sometimes violent towards your children and you’re horrified at the thought of others seeing you that way then those experiences won’t stop. You will unconsciously react like that, you won’t have control over it.
Continuing to do the things you wish you didn’t do feeds your low sense of self worth and shame so you’ll be more susceptible to other’s judgments.
When you're more susceptible to other’s judgments, then you will hide that behaviour even more in the shadows.
It’s a big old, yucky downwards spiral and it may sound heavy but that is precisely why shadow work is so liberating and light.
Imagine freeing yourself of such yucky energy!
Explore and acknowledge your shadows to yourself.
Even just acknowledging a shadow can transform it. Just knowing it is there, that is it a part of you like all your other parts, admitting to it, owning it.
That alone hugely releases the power a shadow holds over you.
It is also very powerful to share them with others but do that in a SAFE and LOVING space where you feel held and accepted no matter what
